Waninga Blacks 2013
Son of Caesar Hatched Oct 2012 (Pic taken 28th April 2013)
Similar to the Whites had a shocking breeding seasion during July-Nov 2013. Hatched only 2 Birds - both from Caesar- one a Ckl and one pullet. Thank good ness for that. Also lost a number of Old birds to heat related issues. Must thank Kevin Jarred from Penola SA who kindly gave me a quad of late Oct 2012 hatched young Blacks bred from some birds I gave him in 2009 Direct descendants from Arnie and also a Wouters Ck bird. So with 6 young Blacks running around they have plenty of space to grow into some decent birds.
Very pleased with the progression of the two older home bred Blacks and have posted pics of them today ( 28th April 2013) Chips off the old ( Caesar ) Block. Both very well shaped and broad in both chest and back. Good head sets with even wattles. Great colour and feather too! Hope for them yet!

Waninga Blacks 2012.
Blacks bred during the 2011 breeding period ( for the 2012 show season)have matured out really well.
Am very happy with the chests on these birds ( size, width and shape) while retaining all the other charactersistics that the Wilkinson blood birds seem to possess. They are also heavy birds!
Waninga Caesar wins Best Orpington in Show Royal Canberra Poultry Show 2012 ( Plus Res Ch Large Softfeather) and is featured elsewhere on this website.
Photo is of his Brother - "No 74" as at 16 June 2012

Waninga Blacks 2011
The Ck from breeding Pen 7 ( and the sire of Ckls 1, 2 and 3 above). Wouters Ck bird (BLK)) plus 3 Black Hens directly from Jeff Wouters plus the sister to the 2010 National Winning Blue Hen. Sadly this sire got a foot infection and passed away in early Jan 2012
Waninga Blacks 2010
This was the year that the big improvements in the Blacks came into being. Thanks to Wayne Robinson's generosity I recieved his last remaining birds which were the son of the winning 2007 National Black Pullet ( Arnie so named after comparing with the Governators chest width), the daughter of the same bird plus the sister of the Winner. Just a great trio with the type and size improvements in the 2010 offspring something to see. Additionally I also picked up three Pullets and seven Ckls from Jeff Wouters ( Max Wilkinson Son in law) the Ckl of which is pictured above. Put all that lot together and the 2011 and 2012 chicks have been something special- in comparison to before anyway.
Waninga Blacks 2009
Another Robinson Ckl Bred in Nov 2008 and built like a brick outhouse. managed to get a few chicks from Him and his brother Sherman the Tank - which is featured elsewhere in the website- but sadly they both died within a week of each other from a foot infection caused by fighting through the pen wire.
